Decorated streets of Festa Major de Gràcia!

Festa Major de Gràcia

There are many festivals in Barcelona with the arrival of the summer, but without any doubt the locals favorite is the Festa Major de Gràcia major celebration!!! Many streets and plazas of this amazing neighborhood get decorated by their own neighbors and local businesses with particular themes inspired by movies, music, books, art or even politics in order to become the people’s favorite and get the first prize. Some balconies and shops entrances are decorated as well so there’s plenty to see and of course, there are also local traditions like correfocs, castellers and during the night the ambience gets even better with live music in the the multiple stages across the area!

This year the Festa Major de Gràcia starts on August 15th and goes until the 21th and if you want to photograph the decorated streets, my tip would be to go around noon on the first day… maybe some of the decorations won’t be fully finished but there’s way less people! It gets crowded and after a couple of days some of the decorations might be broken, specially if it rains… On the other hand, you could go later at night to see the streets illuminated and capture all the ambience of the celebration. And if you want to make the best of it you can also go on a Shutter Kings Barcelona photography tour with a professional local photographer that will take you to the best spots while showing you how to take the best out of your camera, no matter if is your cell phone or a fancy DSLR one! And… you can also be in front of the camera in an amazing photoshoot taking advantage of all the cool backgrounds and come back home with some great portraits!
